Jonathon Amaya is the owner and operator of STLA Gym, a sports training facility he established in the fall of 2016. His extensive athletic background and professional experience form the foundation of the training philosophy he brings to athletes every day.
Amaya spent five years in the NFL (2010–2015), competing as a defensive back and learning from top-tier coaches and athletes. Before his professional career, he was a four-year starting safety at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he became known for his discipline, consistency, and leadership on the field.
A multi-sport athlete from a young age, Amaya grew up in Diamond Bar, California, where he played both football and baseball at Diamond Bar High School. In 2006, he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants, an achievement that highlights his diverse athletic talent and deep understanding of multi-sport development.
In 2018, Amaya expanded his involvement in sports by joining 3rd and 1, a sports entertainment and casting company, where he contributes to motion capture for EA Sports’ Madden NFL. His work helps bring authentic player movement and realistic gameplay to the iconic video game series.
Today, through STLA Gym, Jonathon Amaya combines his professional experience, multi-sport background, and passion for athlete development to train and mentor athletes of all levels. His mission is to build complete athletes—strong in mind, body, and fundamentals.
